Resume Package Options
ENTRY-LEVEL + up
to 7 years' work experience:
In most cases, a one-page resume
is needed, plus a cover letter. However, superior candidates or
those with an impressive track record may require a longer resume.
This will often produce better results for them.
EXPERIENCED LEVEL:
After a number of years in the
workforce, you may have "outgrown" a one-pager and need a longer resume —not
because you can no longer get it all down on one page.
A two-page resume is constructed
differently. It is cleverly designed to present your career
and accomplishments in the most impressive manner.
If you have had supervisory or
managerial responsibilities, a two-page presentation is essential.
It often helps to advance your career.
SENIOR EXECUTIVE LEVEL:
If you have had considerable experience
at management or executive level, plus accomplishments in each position, your
resume may be 3 pages in length or even longer!
NOTE: How long should
your resume be? What layout should you use?
Let Matthew Greene's experience guide you.
Matthew's proven recipes for success
are your best answer to the myths and half-truths you'll hear about these
subjects. You see, free advice that begins with "They say that..."
is often dead wrong!
Matthew Greene's book,
Winning Resumes (Penguin) tells you who needs a longer resume,
when and why. (See Chapter 10, "When a Two-Page Resume Works Better".
